Copy Reese Witherspoon’s Yoga Routine

Reese Witherspoon Goes to Yoga

Reese Witherspoon is hooked on yoga, and her favorite yoga studio is YogoHop in Santa Monica. Reese’s usual workout routine was running, which is a passion of hers, but she recently added yoga to her workout regime to help relax and deal with stress.

What makes Reese’s class so special? YogaHop plays rock, pop and hip-hop music during class and each class has different music to shake things up. The first hour Reese moves from one pose to another every few breaths. In the last half hour, the pace slows and Reese switches to flexibility moves and stretches which she holds for up to a minute or more.

As an added push, Reese’s instructor has her do 5-10 pushups betweens poses. “At first Reese did these on her knees, now she can do full push-ups,” says YogaHop owner Matthew Reyes.

Reese’s favorite pose is the Side-Angle, which strengthens her legs and stretches her chest. To try it at home:

• Stand with feet hip-width apart. Lunge forward with left foot (so thigh is parallel to the floor) and turn right foot out.

• Place left hand on floor, inside left foot.

• Rotate torso to the right and extend right arm toward ceiling, palm facing right. Hold for 30 seconds, repeat on opposite side.

In order to have a great workout, Reese makes sure she has all her favorite gear with her including Yogitoes skidless premium towel – which helps her keep a grip on her mat,  Lululemon head wraps – to help keep her blonde hair out of her face with posing, and her favorite Havaianas flip flop – Flash Hit.
