Scarlett Johansson shared her favority beauty secrets and products with InStyle magazine. Scarlett was recently made the face of the new D&G makeup line where she posed in a Marilyn Monroe esque theme.

On her signature lips
“I’m a huge believer in the power of lipstick, especially red – it’s like instant glamour in a tube.”

On being a brunette
“Well, I can wear seafoam green without looking washed out. Let’s just say the best thing about hair color is that it’s only temporary.”

On preparing for an event

Salma Hayek’s Low Messy Bun

Celeb hairstylist, Robert Vetica styled Salma’s hair for the event in the photo above, “Salma wanted a look to show off the diamond Boucheron bracelet she wore as a hair wrap.” To get the look Vetica made two ponytails, one on top and one on the bottom, removed the elastic from the bottom one, braided it and repeated with the top one. Then he pinned the ends of both under the base of the lower braid – and then added the diamond bracelet – you can use costume jewelry.

“Debra has a good head of hair – I worked with her natural curly texture,” says Vetica. To get the look tease the roots like crazy (using a rattail comb),  gently fluff the sides and add hairspray all over.

Scarlett Johanson’s Sexy Poufy

For this bold voluminous look, Vetica back-combed her hair (lift sections of the hair and brush up and down from the roots to the ends and spray with hairspray). Next put on a skinny headback (with a flowe accent like Scarlett’s) or a skinny elastic headband that goes over your head. To put hair in place, coax it into a pouffy shape and pin in place (think moulding cotton-candy!).

Rosario Dawson’s Long Retro Waves

Vetica says he gave Rosario “Rita Hayworth curls”, to go along with her Emerald green retro style dress. To get the look roll your hair up with a big curling iron, pinning each piece into swirls onto your head and let cool. Remove the pins and gently brush out the curls with a paddle brush. Sweep hair over one shoulder and smooth on some shine serum (just a dab so you don’t weigh down the curls!).

Scarlett Johansson has been named the face of the new upcoming Dolce & Gabbana makeup line. Not only is Scarlett the muse of director Woody Allen, but the designers of D&G says she is their muse as well.

Scarlett is sure of herself. She’s a beautiful girl, but she’s really easygoing. She is very Dolce & Gabbana.

“We see makeup as another thing for women, like a dress. We worked on the makeup line like we work on a clothing collection — you can change makeup like you can change your clothes, depending on your mood,” Stefano Gabbana told WWD on Friday.

The lipsticks will be scented with rose, Gabbana explained. “We wanted to create makeup with a scent. Domenico and I remember when we were children and opened our mother’s handbags — the scent of her lipstick trailed out. I observed that when women open makeup, they smell it first.”

Prices will range from $20 for nail lacquer to $59 for powder foundation.

D&G Makeup will launch this Spring.

Celebs like Scarlett Johansson, Rachel Bislon and Ashley Tisdale are going dark for the Winter and dying their hair 1 to 2 shades darker. Going darker will definitely help with lower maintenance over the Winter. It appears Ashley and Rachel are returning more to their natural color, Scarlett went darker and it really warmed up her skin tone. Maybe she’s trying out the color for her upcoming Wedding to Ryan Renolds?

Fair Skin: Try Clinique in Angel Red. It has a blue-violet undertone and looks striking against fair skin. Or, go for Dior Replenishing Lip Color in Action Red. This is more of a brownish-red, but it’s still bold.

Medium to Dark Skin: You can handle more intense color without it looking too garish. Vincent Longo Lipstain Lipstick in Belle Etoile is a rich, deep red with a little luster. For an even more defiant stamp, try Kat Von D’s Painted Love Lipstick in Underage Red.
