Lauren Conrad is releasing a style book this Fall, aptly titled Lauren Conrad Style. In it, the former Hills star and fashion maven reveals some of her best tried and true fashion tips. Lauren shared her five favorite style tips with People magazine:

1. Pick a signature piece, LC says to focus your outfit around one piece, such as a classic feminine dress. You can change up the look with different accessories.

2. Make you bag super-stylish, Lauren’s brand of choice: Chanel of course.

3. Only wear what you look good in. Don’t follow ever single trend out there, stick to what looks right on YOU.

4. Say it with Shoes. LC says the wrong shoes can ruin a perfectly good outfit, she says’s nude platform pumps are her go to shoe.

5. Add some color. Don’t get lost in wearing all neutral shades, add a pop of color like a peep purple top or bright pink scarf.

The original Hill’s girl and now Avon Mark spokeswoman Lauren Conrad posed for the cover of Glamour magazine where she revealed her absolute favorite lip gloss is Mark Glow Baby Glow Hook Up Lip Glow in M.powerment Gold.  Sounds perfect for a California girl!

Here’s some other tidbits from her interview:

On if she wears hair extensions:
Well, I consider it mine because I own it. But these are all extensions. I chopped off my hair to my shoulders. I thought I was doing a long chic bob. It was so bad.

On what she uses on her hair everyday:
I use a different shampoo everyday. I don’t use products – not even hairspray.

On pressures to be thin:
I workout and eat healthy, so mostly it’s about being in shape and having energy. But about a year ago, I looked down and thought, I have cellulite. Where did that come from?

Lauren Conrad has been sporting a studded leather belt lately, I love how she’s been pairing it with really soft pieces – like the ruffled silk blouse above. Lauren Conrad always has perfect winged eyeliner – and her favorite tool is mark’s On the Edge Hook Up Liquid Eyeliner. LC is the spokeswoman for Avon’s young, hip line mark. The liquid liner sells for only $5 (how cheap is that!) and is long-wearing and quick drying.

The Hills starlet Lauren Conrad dished her beauty and style secrets in the new issue of Us Weekly, featuring Taylor Swift and Hillary Duff for their Style Issue.

When asked about how she reacts to bad outfits after seeing the paparazzi photos Lauren confessed:

I’ve thrown stuff out after seeing my own photos! I’ll look at the roommates and be like, “Dibs?” You’re your own biggest critic.

For Fall Lauren said she is loving pieces with bold detailing, like fringe, exposed zippers, “things that rough up a feminine piece a little.” And she doesn’t just shop at LA’s most expensive shops – the loves to find deals at Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and even vintage shops, that’s a true fashionista!

Lauren describes her personal style as “girlie-casual” and that she loves heels. “I just feel prettier in them. Even if I’m in a casual outfit, it’s a way to dress anything up.”

One part of her body, LC is self-consious about are her thighs. She wears long shirts or a skirt with a natural waist to avoid making her thighs look big.

I’m always envious of Lauren’s natural looking highlights, but Lauren says even her Mom has to remind her sometimes to get her touch-ups done! She gets highlights every 8 weeks, but she says she’s really lazy about it. “I book it when my moms calls, ‘Lauren, your roots are back in’.”

The stars on the red carpet at the MTV VMA’s looked fabulous, from their hair to their makeup. Lindsay Lohan kept her makeup subtle with the focus on her long, long extensions. The Hills Audrina Patridge looked glamorous and rocked a blue eye liner to bring out her green/hazel eyes.

Christina Aguilera’s makeup looked severe, probably since she was going to be performing on stage later that night.

Ashlee Simpson had a pregnancy glow and kept the focus on her eyes with a smokey look. Heidi Montag always looks great, I’d love to see her try something different though.

Jordan Sparks created a glamorous, smokey eye – and finished off the look with pulling her hair back into a chic ponytail.

Lauren Conrad always looks flawless, I love the way she did her hair for this event. It’s very dressy, but not overdone.

Miley Cyrus looked about her age with some subtle makeup. On the other hand, Pink looked very “frosty” with her silver hair and silvery eyemakeup.

Rihanna added a blonde streak to her hair for a Glam look at the VMA’s. Taylor Swift looked ultra-glam with wing-tipped eyeliner and a soft rosey pink lip gloss.

Katy Perry went super-glam with cherry red lipstick chapstick and a sweet diamond bow hairclip. Her look is very retro, pinup – but it totally works on the red carpet.

Lauren Conrad looked adorable in a Richard Ruiz mini dress at the Nylon magazine 90210 party. The ‘Hours Collar Seduction Sheath Dress in Black’ is available at Revolve Clothing and retails for $261. I love how she paired it with a wide belt to give it some shape.

Shannen Doherty also wore the same dress in a wine color when leaving the David Letterman show in New York recently.

Last night was the 2008 MTV VMA’s, and there were tons of hot stars on the red carpet. I think Lauren Conrad, Rihanna and Audrina Patridge all stood out as the best dressed – what do YOU think? Vote!

Nicky Hilton and Heidi Montag wore the most disappointing outfits – Heidi always looks smashing but this time she was wearing a loose and frumpy dress.

Celebs like Lauren Conrad, Katie Holmes and Jessica Alba are loving some hot new denim labels.

Divine Rights of Denim is adored by The Hills girls Lauren Conrad (pictured above) and Audrina Patridge. Lauren wears the brand’s skinny jeans and denim cutoff shorts, which are all priced unded $100!

Eva Longoria Parker, Miley Cyrus and Jessica Alba wear PRVCY jeans – which donates 10% of their proceeds to breast cancer research. Check out the pair Miley Cyrus purchased from Harmony Lane in Beverly Hills and  was later spotted wearing while riding her bike.

Katie Holmes recently made a splash when wearing husband, Tom Cruise’s PRPS jeans. Katie wears the the PRPS distressed boyfriend jean, which retail for $310. Victoria Beckham is also a fan of the new line.

Jennifer Aniston always looks stunning in classic jeans and a tee, she loves the new denim line, Degaine. The French label is a staple in Jen’s wardrobe – she prefers the bootcut style. The classic was has the look of a vintage jean, but with a modern fit. Jen’s Degaine slim bootcut jeans retail for $244.
