Evelyn Lauder

Daughter-in-law of the beauty oragin Estee Lauder, Evelyn Lauder (pictured above with Liz Hurley) is passing on some beauty tips and tricks she learned from her Mother-in-law.

What beauty look will never go out of style?
A hood haircut, well-groomed eyebrows and healthy glowing skin that is well moisturized.

What’s your best beauty advice?
Less is more. Too much shadow in the daytime is harsh. Neutral shades are best to enhance the shape of the eye, especially for daytime. In the evening , add color to the lid or under the brow and mix and match colors, and add sparkle.

What the most important feature on a woman?
The best way for a woman to enhance her looks is by using her eyes. Use the bone structure to help you do your eye makeup. The eyes are a mirror to the person’s soul.

What are your top skin tips?
I am religious about cleansing in the morning and cleansing at night.

What’s the one thing your mother taught you about beauty?
Washing you hands is tremendously important. You don’t want to put your hands in your cream without washing them and you definitely don’t want to touch your face. My mother was always on me about that: “Don’t touch your face!”

Who is your beauty icon?
My mother and my mother-in-law, Estee Lauder. She had a very peaches-and-cream complexion. She never went to bed without brushing her teeth and putting her night cream on.

What beauty advice do you offer to your daughter and granddaughters?
For my granddaughters, it’s all about sunscreen. They use very subtle things like lip gloss. I love watching them do it.

What are some of your beauty tricks?
Use an eyelash curler and primer to thicken and curls the lashes. Also, use rouge underneath the makeup base.

How can you get a great look in a pinch?
Use liquid moisturizer – pat it onto your face with your fingers. Add foundation or concealer under your eyes and put some on the cheeckbones. If your skin looks dry, don’t touch it. Add more rouge and a little more shadow when you go out at night.

Who is your favorite style icon?
Katharine Hepburn was startlingly glorious. Her eyes were so beautiful, her mouth was interesting and she made slacks look feminine.
