Allure Magazine has created a gallery of 10 celebrity hairstyles that make them appear 10 years older than they really are!  Above is a pic of Katie Holmes’ “soccer mom” haircut which makes her look years old than she really is. There are some great tips for creating a more youthful hairstyle that can shave years off your appearance.

Jennifer Aniston has the most famous her in Hollywood and her hair never looks out of place. Jen has been going to Chris McMillan for 15 years – he even created the famous “Rachel” haircut. I think this is the longest relationship she’s had with a man! Jen’s cut and color costs about $600.

Amy Adams‘ signature red locks cost her about $500 to maintain, she visits Mark Townsend at the Sally Hershberger Salon in LA.

Gwyneth Paltrow’s majorly popular bob has now grown into a LOB (Long Bob). Her new length allows Gwyneth more options for styling her hair like braiding and curling.  If you’re looking to cut your hair into a LOB ask for the length to hit between your shoulders and collarbone.

Hairstylist Orlando Pita, who cuts Gwyneth’s hair said, “Long bobs are sexy, smart and chic. After I gave Gwyneth the cut, I noticed she had a newfound confidence.”

Eva Longoria left Ken Paves salon on Friday with a new set of hair extensions – she looks like herself again! Eva had cut her hair short when her character Gabrielle on Desperate Housewives became a frumpy mother of two.

Jessica Alba shared some of  her favorite haristyles in years past and also some style tips for how she likes to wear her hair now.

Have you experimented with your hair over the years?
My hair has been blonde, dark, highlighted, permed. It’s been short, long, really long. I used to have hair down to my butt when I was growing up.

Any bad colors?
Strawberry blonde. It was really tacky, but it was fun.

What about crazy styles?
I wanted to shave my head when I was 13, and my mom basically said I wouldn’t be able to live there anymore if I did. So I got piercings all the way up my ear instead.

What’s your favorite look now?
I like beachy hair – just wavy, natural, not fussy. I use hydrating shampoo and conditioner. I put in leave-in conditioner and wrap it in a bun until it dries, and then  let it out. I make the waves more defined, so they don’t look as puffy. It actually looks better the next day.

What about on the red carpet?
Definitely retro. I’ve known my stylist, Robert Ramos, since I was 13, and we’re always thinking about Veronica Lake and Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn, but kind of a modern, younger version.

You’ve been wearing lots of braids lately.
My mom used to braid my hair, and for some reason, since I had my daughter Honor, I’ve been braiding my hair. It’s kind of silly.

Do you ever look back at any hairstyles and think, That really flopped?
All the time. I’m always like, Oh, my God, I look like a hot mess.

Whether you love it or hate it, the hippie headband trend is here to stay – at least for a little while.

Celebs like Mischa Barton, Nicole Richie and Molly Sims are all following the hippie headband trend. Here’s how to pull it off:

1. Part hair in either a straight part down the middle, or create a loose jig-jag part down the middle of your head.

2. Wrap a skinny headband around the top of your forehead, avoid tucking your hair behind your ears!

3. If you have bangs, wear the headband over your bangs.

4. Throughout the day/night check your headband and avoid mushroom head by tucking your hair in.

The stars on the red carpet at the MTV VMA’s looked fabulous, from their hair to their makeup. Lindsay Lohan kept her makeup subtle with the focus on her long, long extensions. The Hills Audrina Patridge looked glamorous and rocked a blue eye liner to bring out her green/hazel eyes.

Christina Aguilera’s makeup looked severe, probably since she was going to be performing on stage later that night.

Ashlee Simpson had a pregnancy glow and kept the focus on her eyes with a smokey look. Heidi Montag always looks great, I’d love to see her try something different though.

Jordan Sparks created a glamorous, smokey eye – and finished off the look with pulling her hair back into a chic ponytail.

Lauren Conrad always looks flawless, I love the way she did her hair for this event. It’s very dressy, but not overdone.

Miley Cyrus looked about her age with some subtle makeup. On the other hand, Pink looked very “frosty” with her silver hair and silvery eyemakeup.

Rihanna added a blonde streak to her hair for a Glam look at the VMA’s. Taylor Swift looked ultra-glam with wing-tipped eyeliner and a soft rosey pink lip gloss.

Katy Perry went super-glam with cherry red lipstick chapstick and a sweet diamond bow hairclip. Her look is very retro, pinup – but it totally works on the red carpet.

The most popular haircut in America right now is the bob. Inspired by celebs like Katie Holmes, Victoria Beckham, Rihanna women all over are chopping off their hair and sporting a sleek asymmetrical bob. This chic cut is the most requested haircut and will keep you super-cool all Summer long.
