Hairstyle Tips from Whitney Port

Whitney Port Hairstyles

Whitney Port is always changing up her hairstyle, from curls to braids, to pin-straight or retro do’s, she loves to experiment! Whitney says she loves her hair best when the roots are a little dark and the ends are very light, and also when her hair is parted straight down the middle (like above!).

On days when she’s not feeling so hot, Whitney sweeps her hair up into a messy bun.

Whitney  says if she could have anyone’s hair, she’d want Gisele Bundchen’s hair because of her honey color and long waves.

Whitney’s favorite hair care products are by Enjoy – she loves them because they smell amazing and keep her hair moisturized.

How to Get Elle Macpherson’s Sexy Beach Hair

Supermodel Elle Macpherson shared with People magazine her secret to sexy, beach hair. For her sun kissed highlights Elle lets her hair get lightened naturally by the sun, and she also visits Real Hair in London for highlights. Elle says she prefers to not ruin the quality of her hair with hair dye, so she does her best to protect the color with Frederic Fekkai conditioner.

To further protect her hair and scalp Elle always wears a straw hat (this also protects her face, preventing premature wrinkles).

To get that “just out of the ocean” tousled look Elle says she doesn’t brush her hair much.

The salt water in Bumble & Bumble’s Surf Spray is a great styling aid.

Celebrity Summer Hair Trend: Side Braid

audrina-patridge-fishtail-side-braid-hairstyle

Audrina Patridge

Celebs are sporty a cool and easy summer do - long side braids. You can easily copy this style Audrina is wearing if you have very long hair, or you can wear it like Rebecca Romijn if you have medium length hair. Extensions can be added, or a clip on long pony tail can be worn if you have short hair that is long enough to be put in a pony tail – but don’t go overboard like our mystery celeb below!

Here’s how to copy the side braid:
The trick to copying this look is make it look undone and messy – loose pieces can fall out and the braid doesn’t have to be perfect (how easy is that!?).

Start with pulling you hair loosely to the side and begin braiding, leave about 2-3″ of hair at the end so that the braid doesn’t get too skinny.

Finish off with a clear or black hair elastic (try Sephora Snag-Free Hair Elastics, $3.50 for a set of 8). If you have some large chunks of hair falling out, you can secure them with a pin – but remember to keep it loose and cool!

Hair Secrets from Celebrity Stylist Sally Hershberger

Celebrity stylist Sally Hershberger has worked with celebs like Michelle Pfeiffer and Meg Ryan. Sally says there are three hairstyling products and tools you should never scrimp on:

1. Blow-dryer: Sally says the better dryers last longer and dry hair quicker, leading to less damage’

2. Boar-bristle brush: “It’s worth every penny!” A boar bristle brush adds shine to your hair by smoothing hair’s natural oil from root to shaft.

3. Hair Oil: the cheaper, drug store serums contain too much silicone which weighs hair down and makes it greasy. Sally prefers and argan oil based serum because it’s conditioning and leightweight.

Ashley Olsen debuted sexy shoulder length beach waves, and you can copy her look at home – it’s easy!

Katy Perry Reveals She Wears a Wig!

Katy Perry gave a special performance at the CW Upfronts in NYC recently and revealed that she wears a wig! Katy often sports a blunt bang which appears to be just a wig she puts over her own natural beautiful hair!

During the performance Katy must have began sweating and the wig was riding up on her head, you can see her natural hairline in the photo above.

I think it’s a great idea she wears a wig for performances to switch out her hairstyle and avoid damaging her hair.

Below is an event just after the performance and you can see she’s bang-less!
