The Non-Diet Diet, How Gwyneth Paltrow Stays Skinny

Gwyneth Paltrow was on the Oprah Winfrey show, and she dished about how she got into the best shape of her life after having two children, and all about her diet and fitness routine.

Gwyneth told Oprah after she had her second child with husband Chris Martin, she had trouble losing the baby weight, “I could not get off these 20 extra pounds,” she says. “I don’t know if something changed. I don’t know if it was being older and being in my 30s instead of my 20s. … I [was] 34 when I had him, and I just couldn’t get it off. It was kind of demoralizing.”

Gwyneth began working out 6 days a week for 2 hours with trainer Tracy Anderson. “She’s the exercise genius of all time,” Gwyneth says. “She developed this system of kind of doing dance aerobics so that you’re not doing anything repetitive.” The actress later introduced her trainer to Madonna, who also helped her get into amazing shape.

One important secret to Gwyneth’s weight loss is turning up the heat, her trainer comes to Gwyneths home gym and helps her lose inches by cranking up the heat to 80 degrees. “She likes it hot in the room so you sweat, because she says if the room is hot, you’re also burning calories to maintain homeostasis,” Gwyneth says. “She’s always coming up with new ways to kick up the calorie burning.”

Using cardio dance routines and resistance training, Tracy has helped Gwyneth transform her bodies. “She makes everything small,” Gwyneth says. “She wants women to be long and lean and defined.”

The routine starts with Tracy’s band system. “I developed the band system for Madonna, specifically, which we use to warm up the arms,” Tracy says. “It just offers me a new way of getting to the muscle and the angles that I need to get a little bit deeper.”

Then, Gwyneth moves on to arm exercises that require little to no resistance. “Only 3-pound weights,” Tracy says. “No woman should lift more than 3 pounds.”

When she’s away Gwyneth uses her trainers DVD’s, “I do those DVDs whenever I travel. She completely changed my body.”

As for her diet, Gwyneth says she pretty much eats what she wants because she works out so hard. “I don’t eat four-legged animals, but I eat birds, I eat cheese, I eat dessert,” she says. “I eat everything.”

Gwyneth says dieting has never worked well for her. “I’ll immediately gain like 5 pounds even just by thinking about cutting out dessert. It’s a nightmare,” she says. “I decided, for me, the healthiest thing was to eat what I want and just exercise. Some women can watch what they eat, but I just can’t do that.”

Brooke Shields’ Amazing Diet Secret

43 year old Brooke Shields looked amazing on the cover of the October issue of shape magazine. The actress says her secret to staying slim is spinning class. “Spinning is the only way I ever lose weight,” she says. “It’s purely about keeping my heart rate up and burning calories.”

Brooke prepared for her cover shoot by doing tons of spinning before she had foot surgery in April to remove a bunion. She had to be off of her feet for two months, “I was worried about getting out of shape and gaining weight after the surgery. So just as I did with my pregnancies, I decided to go into it at my physical best.”

“I can’t believe I said I’d do this shoot when I haven’t been able to exercise for almost eight weeks,” Brooke told the magazine.

After the surgery Brooke said she put on 9 pounds from not being able to spin, “That was a little more than I’d hoped, but by giving myself that cushion, I know I’ll get back into shape pretty quickly once I can start Spinning again.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Fitness And Diet Regime

Is Jennifer Love Hewitt becoming the next skinny celebrity? Not quite, but she shares her diet and exercise routine with her trainer in Us Weekly magazine which has lead her to lose 18 pounds in 10 weeks.

Jen’s diet consists of 1,500 - 1,800 calorie a day diet. She is allowed to eat who grains, but not after 2pm. She is mostly allowed to snack on protein, veggies and fruit. A typical meal plan includes mixed fruit, Greek yogurt, or cottage cheese for breakfast.

For lunch Jen munches on turkey, tomatoes, sprouts, mayo and mustard on Ezekial sprouted bread. Dinner includes an 8oz roasted chicken with steamed veggies. She can snack throughout the day on a teaspoon of peanut butter, laughing cow cheese, and carrots and broccoli.

Along with a healthy diet, Jennifer is working out 3-4 times a week. She works with a trainer, Sant’Angelo, who gets her started with ten minutes of cardio (jump rope or treadmill). Then she does 45 minutes of toning - Jen uses a kettlebell weight, doing bicep curls, squats, kickbacks, and full body planks with a 15lb or 18lb weight.

When she’s on her own Jen does 40 minutes of straight up cardio such as roller skating (her favorite!), incline training on the treadmill, or swimming. She finished off her workout with pushups, body planks, lunges, and bike crunches.

Celebrity Travel Fitness Tips

At one time or another celebs are traveling and need to keep up with their workout routines. Stars reveal their secret tips and tricks for staying fit on the road.

Kate Hudson is often seen bike riding or jogging in whatever city she’s in - just make sure to pack your sneakers and sports bra.

Petra Nemcova says she uses resistance bands to work out with in hotel rooms because they are easy to pack.

Workout DVDs are a great fitness tool, Eliza Dushku says she brought along Turbo Jam and Yoga Booty Ballet when she was in Iran for two weeks, where you aren’t allowed to workout in public!

Monique Coleman says she likes to bring ankle weights or a Pilates ring in her bag and just do simple leg and arm exercises.

Making sure her hotel has an equiped gym is Minka Kelly’s fitness tip - “I make sure there is a gym in the hotel, but if there’s not, I do jump squats and crunches in the hotel room. And I do as muh as possible outside - I make sure to run 45 minutes every day.” Now that’s dedication!

Radha Mitchell says she does Yoga - which she can practice almost anywhere. “I can do it on my own or find a class - there’s Yoga all over the world!

How Sexy Mom Brooke Burke Lost Postbaby Weight

Sexy Mom Brooke Burke dished to Star magazine about how she lost the postbaby pregnancy weight after her last baby, Shaya - born just 5 months ago.

During her pregnancy Brooke said she relied on belly wraps, a fabric wrapped tight around the tummy. Brooke even designed her own belly wrap that reduced water tension and strengthened the ab muscles. She even wore it and slept in it for 40 days!

After giving birth Brooke said she began jumping on a trampoline with her daughters, “It’s an amazing workout.”

As for a diet to help lose weight faster, Brooke says she eats 5 meals a day. Breakfast includes oatmeal and fruit, then a snack before Lunch. Lunch is a big salad, and dinner might be fish and veggies with a glass of wine.

She also shares walks and hikes with her husband, David Charvet, and her other children, Neriah, 8, Sierra Sky, 6, and Rain, 19 months.

Jennifer Love Hewitt Loses 18 Pounds

Jennifer Love Hewitt is showing off her recent weight loss on the cover of Us Weekly magazine. Jennifer shed 18 pounds in 10 weeks. “I am in a pretty good workout regimen that I like, so it inspired me to keep it up,” Hewitt tells Us. “The energy level and the way I feel now is great.” Jennifer is engaged to Ross McCall, and is working on slimming down for her wedding day.

“With her, it’s not, ‘I want to look good in that dress,’” trainer Stevie Sant’Angelo tells Us. “She wanted to start moving around because she thought it would make her feel better.

“She told me, ‘They said some rude, mean things, but that’s not why I wanted to change,’” Sant’Angelo says.

About 1 year ago some unflattering pictures of Jennifer while in a bathing suit on vacation were floating around the internet and bloggers were calling Jen fat. Fed up with all the negative comment Jennifer set the story straight on the cover of People magazine.

Kim Kardashian Exercise Tips

Kim Kardashian has posted some of her exercise tips on her blog, and says her goal is to lose ten pounds - and gain five pounds in muscle. Kim says her and her sister Kourtney are working out together, and that she currently weighs 120 pounds (at 5′ 2 1/2″). Their other sister Khloe recently lost weight by watching what she eats and working out.

Here is one of Kim’s exercise tips:

An exercise that I’ve been doing every day that’s really been helping and no gym equipment is needed is… Get a chair or even go near your couch and make sure nothing is in front of it so you can stand right in front of it and act as if you are going to sit down but don’t actually sit! Just lightly touch your booty on it and come back up. Do that seven times! Then do the same thing but this time only half way, come back up and do that seven times. Then do it one more time but when you go to sit down and come back up, only come up about an inch up off the chair! So each time you go lower and lower! Once you finished your lucky 21, take a break and try it again. I try to do that cycle four times.

Maureen McCormick Loses Weight with Slim Shot

Brady Bunch and Celebrity Fit Club star Mary McCormick is determined to maintain her weightloss after gaining 10 pounds since winning Celeb Fit Club - so she’s using a new weight loss product called Slim Shot. “I’m using this product called Slim Shot and it reduces your appetite by like 30 percent,” she says. “And why I love it so much is that it tastes like rice milk, which is one of my favorite things. I always like to have rice milk on my cereal with my husband.”

Maureen says about her weight, “I’m 5′3, I’m always up and down. I love to eat but I just feel best when I’m at a thin weight. I get to a place in my life sometimes where I don’t excercise. I’m an all or nothing girl. I give in to something all the way or I back off and so I backed off–but now I’m back on!”

Carnie Wilson Weight Loss Update

Carnie Wilson has had publisized ups and downs with weight, and she’s sharing her struggle with Ok! Magazine. Wilson told OK! that she’s shed another 17 lbs. since her last interview, which appeared in OK!’s June 23 issue. The star–who famously had gastric bypass surgery in 1999 which caused her to shrink from 300 lbs. to 146 lbs.–bravely admitted to OK! months ago that following the birth of her daughter Lola,3, she gained much of the weight back, finally reaching 208 lbs.

Today Carnie weighs 176 pounds, which she managed to lose while filming her new CMT series, Outsiders’ Inn, a sequel to Gone Country in which Carnie shares a rustic living experience with other stars including Whitney Houston’s ex Bobby Brown, and The Brady Bunch’s Maureen McCormick.

Carnie explains her diet includes foods like Tofu, vegetables, squash soup, and roasted yams.

She is also working on creating a line of plus size clothing for women. “I have a lot of really great ideas that women are going to be really relieved and happy about, inspired by my experience of being morbidly obese and all sizes,” she says. “It’s going to be beautiful.”
