Mariah Carey Talks About Weight Loss & Dieting on Oprah

Mariah Carey was recently on Oprah to promote her new album, and she talked about her ups and downs with weight over the years. Mariah said a friend recently made a comment about her weight and it inspired her to get fit – for good. She hired a fitness and nutrition expert who helped Mariah create a workout regimen.

Mariah says her workouts typically last for 60 to 90 minutes and combine cardio with resistance training. To tone her arms, Mariah uses her own body weight and stretches to sculpt long, lean lines. She likes to hop into a pool for the cardio portion of her workout.

What’s great about working out in the pool is the water acts as resistance, you’re actually exercising twice as hard without feeling it.

Mariah’s had to edit her diet to help lose the weight and she now eats food light in oil and butter, and has completely cut out her beloved Mac n’ Cheese. Her new diet consists of food high in protein, veggies, and fruit. On a typical night Mariah has artichoke hearts with cherry tomatoes, steamed zucchini and chicken marinated with lemon and soy sauce. Yum!

Mariah claim she’s never felt better and even fits into the jeans she wore when she was 16!
